Police are appealing for information following a suspicious incident near Newton-le-Willows.
At around 4pm on Thursday this week, an old green Land Rover was seen parked on Moor End Lane/No Man’s Moor Lane alongside a newer Nugent cattle trailer.
The location has been identified using What3Words as tissue.consoles.trim.
Officers say the registration numbers displayed on both the vehicle and the trailer did not match and were not correct for the models sighted, prompting concerns that the trailer may be stolen.
Police are urging farmers, landowners and rural businesses to check their livestock trailers in case one has been taken without yet being noticed.
Anyone with information, sightings, or relevant CCTV or dashcam footage is asked to call 101, quoting reference NYP-11122025-0481.
