The Northallerton community came together in style last month for the Hopes, Dreams and Wishes fundraising ball — and organisers have now confirmed the event raised an impressive £15,432.32 for two much-loved charities.
The total, announced after final donations were counted, will be split equally between Wendy’s Wish, which supports families affected by cancer, and the Teenage Cancer Trust, which provides specialist care for young people undergoing treatment.
Held at the Golden Lion Hotel, the glamorous evening was organised in memory of mum-of-two Wendy Reed and Northallerton teenager Grace Sanderson, whose stories inspired the event.
Guests enjoyed a night of dining, entertainment and fundraising, with the money now set to help families facing some of their most challenging moments.
Elise and Annie Reed, Wendy’s daughters, were among the organisers.
Annie said: “We are absolutely overwhelmed by the support from everyone who attended, donated prizes or sponsored the event.”
Elise added: “Raising over £15,000 is beyond what we imagined, and it means so much to continue mum’s legacy while also honouring Grace, who was a friend of mine.”
Grace’s mum, Emma Sanderson, also shared her gratitude.
“I wanted to thank the team at Wendy’s Wish for choosing to help the Teenage Cancer Trust alongside their own fundraising. Grace always wanted to give back to this valuable charity after everything they did for her.
“Seeing so many people come together in her memory was incredibly moving. We know this money will help other young people and families facing the toughest times.”
Organisers extended heartfelt thanks to the local businesses and individuals who donated raffle and auction prizes, sponsored the evening, or volunteered their time to help make the event such a success.
