Staff from local sausage and burger firm HECK! have rolled up their sleeves and grabbed a bin bag to do some good.

Following the launch of its litter-picking and beach clean initiative last year, the company has continued its efforts to keep beauty spots litter-free with two further clean-ups on the Saltburn-by-the-Sea shoreline.

The events, held on July 21 and August 8, saw the HECK! team join forces with around 70 local volunteers to tackle litter, plastics and waste that threaten marine life and coastal beauty.

Many children also took part, with parents saying it was a great way to get them outdoors and away from screens.

After the clean-ups, everyone was treated to battered sausage and chips, provided by HECK! and cooked by The Seaview Restaurant.

Across the two events, 20 bin bags of rubbish were collected, along with larger discarded items including metal poles and rubber tyres.

Becky Keeble from HECK! said: “We believe small actions can make a big difference.

“Our beaches are such a vital part of the Yorkshire community and we’re proud to play a part in keeping them safe, clean and beautiful for future generations. These cleans are just the start – we’ll keep looking for ways to give back to the places we love.”

The initiative forms part of the company’s wider environmental mission, which also includes reducing packaging waste, sourcing responsibly, switching to renewable energy and engaging in community projects.
