Fire crews from Easingwold were called out at 7.48pm on Sunday evening following reports of a van on fire at the side of the A19 near Skelton.
On arrival, firefighters found the vehicle well alight, and evidence at the scene suggested the fire had been started deliberately, with accelerants discovered nearby.
Crews used two hose reel jets, two breathing apparatus, lighting equipment, and a thermal imaging camera to fully extinguish the blaze.
No injuries were reported, and the incident has been handed over to the police for further investigation.
