Firefighters were called to Kilburn, near Thirsk, at 8.25pm after reports of a blaze in woodland.
Crews from Ripon, Summerbridge and Colburn found an area measuring 15 metres by 5 metres alight, with a lit candle discovered nearby. The fire is believed to have been started deliberately.
A water relay was set up, and firefighters used knapsack sprayers, beaters and hose reel jets to prevent the fire from spreading further and to bring it under control.
While dealing with the incident, crews found a second fire in the same forest, which was also thought to have been started deliberately.
This was extinguished using knapsack sprayers and specialist wildfire tools.
