Fire crews rescue two people trapped inside electric car

Firefighters from Thirsk were called to an incident in Topcliffe after two people became trapped inside an electric vehicle.

The incident occurred at 5.17pm in Long Street, when the crew was mobilised to reports that the occupants were unable to exit the car.

On arrival, firefighters found two people trapped inside the electric vehicle.

Using crew power, they were able to prise open the door and retrieve a spare key from the driver.

The key was then used to unlock the vehicle, allowing firefighters to safely release both occupants.
