Firefighters from Northallerton and Tadcaster were called to Kirby Sigston at 2.40pm after two cows became trapped in mud in a ditch.
Working alongside the farmer, crews used strops, manpower, swift water rescue equipment and a Manitou to free the animals.
Both cows were safely rescued and unharmed.
