Firefighters were called to reports of a fire in the open near Scruton on New Year’s Eve.
A crew from Northallerton Fire Station responded at 6.22pm after a passing driver reported a fire from the A684.
Following an inspection, crews confirmed the fire was a controlled burn being carried out under supervision.
Firefighters spoke with the person responsible and provided safety advice before leaving the scene.
No further action was required.
