Family describe missing Robert Rees-Hughes as “the most gentle and loving person”

Robert Hughes.

The family of missing Easingwold man Robert Rees-Hughes have paid tribute to him, describing the 35-year-old as “the most gentle and loving person”.

Robert has now been missing for 13 days.

His family have released new photographs and the following statement: “Robert is the most gentle and loving person; his best friend is his five-year-old niece who he adores.

It is very out of character for Robert to go missing and not contact his family or friends, with whom he is very close to.

We really encourage anybody to reach out with information, however small.”

Robert was last seen at around 3.10pm on Saturday, November 29 on Crabmill Lane in Easingwold.

He is described as white, 5ft 3in, of medium build, with short receding dark brown hair.

He has a noticeable injury (a gash) on the top of his head.

He was last seen wearing a dark waterproof jacket, grey chino jeans and walking boots.

Inspector Rory Sadler from the local Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “We continue to work around the clock to find Robert, who was last seen 12 days ago in Easingwold. Over the last week we have used specialist resources in and around the Helperby and Brafferton areas.

We are appealing to members of the public who live between Boroughbridge, Easingwold and Thirsk to please check any video doorbell or CCTV footage from 3.30pm onwards on Saturday 29 November, and to also check land and outbuildings.

I would also urge anyone who is out walking in this area to remain vigilant.

Robert’s family are understandably extremely concerned, and we are doing all that we can to support them at this difficult time, as well as keep them updated on our daily efforts to find him.”

Anyone who believes they may have seen Robert, or who has information that could help the investigation, is urged to call North Yorkshire Police on 101. If you know his immediate whereabouts, please call 999.
