The emergency services were called out yesterday after a car left the road and crashed into a hedge.

The driver was trapped inside the vehicle and had to be cut free by firefighters following the collision on the A19 at the Cleveland Tontine.

The incident was reported just after 5pm on Wednesday.

Two air ambulances, police and paramedics attended the scene along with fire crews from Stokesley, Northallerton and Thirsk fire stations.

A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “Fire crews worked swiftly to extricate the casualty using rescue equipment, in close coordination with medical teams.

“The individual was safely removed from the vehicle and handed into the care of paramedics for onward treatment.

“We’d like to thank all road users for their patience and cooperation while the road was closed during the emergency response.”
