Fire crews were called to a car fire on the A1 this morning.
The incident happened at 7.44am today on the southbound carriageway between Catterick and junction 51 at Leeming.
Fire crews from Bedale, Darlington and Ripon responded to reports of a Ford Fiesta on fire.
Firefighters used two breathing apparatus, one hose reel jet and a thermal imaging camera to bring the blaze under control.
The vehicle sustained around 90 per cent damage.
The cause of the fire is currently unknown.
