Former Bedale High School student Lily Crosthwaite has signed a professional contract with Birmingham City, who currently sit top of the Barclays Women’s Super League 2 after four matches.
The talented 22-year-old, who came through the ranks at Durham Cestria, made her senior debut for Durham Women during the 2020/21 season and soon became a regular in the first-team squad. Over her time with the club, she made 92 appearances and scored eight goals, including a memorable strike against Leicester City in the Barclays Women’s Super League.
Crosthwaite’s consistent performances earned her the Players’ Player of the Year Award at the end of the 2023/24 season before she made the move to Birmingham.
Signing a three-year deal, she has already made an instant impact — scoring three goals for her new club.
Speaking about the move, Lily said: “I think a lot of the goals and the ambitions of the club are exciting. Hopefully it’s something that can develop me as a player and I can help contribute to it — that would be massive. It’s just a really exciting place to be.”
