Babies bring joy and laughter to care home

A Thirsk care home was recently filled with excitement as residents welcomed a special group of visitors – babies aged between nine and 19 months – for the very first time.

The little ones explored the home, crawling and toddling their way through the lounge areas, singing, babbling and playing.

One particularly touching moment saw baby Humphrey become so captivated by resident Tony Bull that he happily sat on his lap for more than an hour, reluctant to leave when it was time to go.

“It was lovely to see the children; it reminded me of my own grandchildren,” said Mr Bull.

Resident Jill Newsom added: “It reminded me of when my own children were small – such delightful memories.”

Staff at Hambleton Grange also shared their joy at the intergenerational visit. Sandra Anderson, Home Manager at the care home, said:

“It was wonderful to see our residents and the little ones enjoying each other’s company. Moments like these bring so much joy and laughter into the home, and it’s a privilege to watch friendships and memories being made across generations. We can’t wait to welcome more visits like this in the future.”
