Firefighters were called to tackle a deliberately started fire in a playing field in Northallerton late on Sunday night.
A crew from Northallerton Fire Station was mobilised to Mill Hill Lane at 11.26pm following reports of a fire.
On arrival, firefighters found a blaze measuring approximately two metres by two metres, involving a pile of wood in the middle of the playing field.
Crews used a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire and prevent it from spreading.
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service said the blaze is believed to have been started deliberately and North Yorkshire Police have been informed.
