Firefighters from five stations were called to a large field fire near Bedale after a baler caught fire during harvesting.
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service was called to Leeming Lane, Burneston, at 5.33pm on Sunday following reports that a baler had caught alight in a stubble field.
Crews from Bedale, Ripon, Leyburn, Northallerton and Richmond attended the incident.
The blaze spread across an area measuring around 200 metres by 200 metres and destroyed approximately 20 straw bales before firefighters brought it under control.
Firefighters wearing four breathing apparatus sets used two hose reel jets, along with leaf blowers and fire beaters, to extinguish the flames and prevent the fire spreading further across the field.
No injuries were reported.
