Police appeal after woman dies in A19 collision near Thirsk

A woman has died following a two-vehicle collision on the A19 near Great Thirkleby, close to Thirsk, and police are appealing for witnesses.

The crash happened at about 2.20pm on Wednesday, July 1, and involved a grey BMW travelling northbound and a Skoda Fabia travelling southbound.

The female driver of the Skoda was pronounced dead at the scene, while the female driver of the BMW was taken to hospital for treatment.

Specially trained officers are supporting the family of the woman who died.

North Yorkshire Police are now appealing for anyone who saw either vehicle before the collision, witnessed the crash, or has dashcam footage that could assist the investigation to come forward.
