AN independent dales brewery is raising a glass after one of its beers was recognised for its quality at a regional award.
Pennine Brewing Co, based in Well, between Bedale and Masham, was awarded silver for Scapegoat at the 2026/27 Indie Beer Awards, run by SIBA (Society of Independent Brewers and Associates) at a ceremony in Gateshead recently.
The 4.2 per cent ale golden ale was given the accolade in the Cask British Bitter Category.
Pennine head brewer Tim Butler described it as a delicate simple and refreshing beer that is hopped, providing a slightly citrus aroma but with a lovely creaminess.
The company added that Scapegoat is a firm favourite across pubs and bars in the North.
Pennine Brewing Co, which was founded in 2013, brews 14,000 pints a week and supplies about 250 pubs. It employs eight staff members.
