Police appeal after suspicious activity reported near Thirsk shop

Police are appealing for information after reports of suspicious activity involving a van and a teenage girl in the Thirsk area.

The incident was reported on Thursday afternoon near the Hambo Shop on Hambleton Place.

According to North Yorkshire Police, a grey transit-style van with a sliding side door was seen in the area between about 2.30pm and 2.50pm and was reported to have been acting suspiciously.

Officers are also trying to identify a girl believed to be around 16 years old who was seen nearby.

She is described as being of slim build, about 5ft 4in tall, with long dark hair. She was wearing black leggings and a white puffer-style jumper.

Police are asking anyone who saw the van or the girl, or who may have information that could help the investigation, to come forward.
