A North Yorkshire running club has raised more than £1,000 for a local charity through a series of community events.
Hambleton Athletics and Running Club (HARC) has donated £1,053.70 to Hambleton Community Action after naming it as its chosen cause for 2025/26.
The funds were raised through a mix of activities involving both club members and the wider community. These included games and raffles at social events, as well as the club’s annual HARC Angels 5km challenge, which encourages participants to run or walk 5km anywhere during December in return for a bespoke medal.
The club also supported the charity at Northallerton Carnival, where members organised a children’s fun run and hosted a games stall featuring activities such as a beanbag target game and a “guess the teddy bear’s name” competition.
A cheque presentation was recently held, attended by club chair Chris Lees alongside Gemma Wardle and Sara Sherwood.
Mr Lees said: “It’s been fantastic to see our members and the wider community come together to support such an important local cause.
“From our social events and the HARC Angels 5km to getting involved at Northallerton Carnival, there’s been a real sense of enthusiasm and generosity throughout.
“We’re incredibly proud to have raised over £1,000 and hope this contribution will make a meaningful difference.”
Liz Lockey, chief officer at Hambleton Community Action, thanked the club for its support, saying the donation would help the charity continue delivering community-focused services across Northallerton, Bedale and surrounding areas.
