Fire crews were called to a kitchen fire at a commercial property in Northallerton yesterday.

Appliances from North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service stations in Northallerton and Thirsk were mobilised to the incident on Crosby Road at around 5.55pm on Thursday.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the building to tackle the blaze, using a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire.

A thermal imaging camera was deployed to check for any remaining hotspots, while a positive pressure ventilation fan was used to clear smoke from the premises.

Crews were able to bring the situation under control, and the incident was later left with a responsible person.
