A19 closed near Thirsk after serious early-morning crash

Motorists are being warned of major disruption after a serious collision closed a key route in North Yorkshire.

North Yorkshire Police said the incident happened at around 2.15am this morning on the A19 near Knayton, between Thirsk and Osmotherley.

The road has been closed in both directions while emergency services deal with the incident.

Police have warned the closure is likely to remain in place throughout the morning, with drivers urged to avoid the area.
