A man has been arrested following a police pursuit on the A1(M) in North Yorkshire.
North Yorkshire Police said the incident began shortly before midnight on Tuesday, March 18, when a motorist was spotted acting suspiciously in the Bedale and Leyburn areas.
Officers attempted to stop the vehicle in Catterick Garrison, but the driver failed to pull over and made off.
A short time later, the vehicle was sighted again on the A66 near Scotch Corner, prompting a further police response.
Specialist tactics were deployed by pursuing officers as the driver again attempted to evade police.
The vehicle was eventually brought to a stop on the A1(M) southbound, shortly before junction 51.
The driver was arrested on suspicion of drink and drug driving, driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence, driving without insurance, and failing to stop for police.
He remains in custody while enquiries continue.
Police said the incident was brought to a safe conclusion thanks to the coordinated efforts of officers involved.
