Livestock lorry overturns in Topcliffe

Emergency crews were called to Station Road in Topcliffe at 6.20am today following reports of a lorry carrying livestock that had overturned, leaving the driver trapped inside the cab.

Fire crews from Thirsk and Ripon attended the incident after being alerted by police.

On arrival, firefighters confirmed the driver was stuck inside the cab and carried out a rescue using crew power.

The driver was safely released through the cab’s sunroof and handed over to the care of other emergency services.

The incident was ongoing at the time of publication.
