The emergency services were called to a two-vehicle road traffic collision on Brompton Road, between Patrick Brompton and Scotton, at about 5.40pm yesterday.
The incident happened near the turn-off to Hunton.
North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that crews from Northallerton and Richmond attended the incident.
On arrival, firefighters found that one person was trapped inside one of the vehicles.
Crews used hydraulic cutting equipment and small tools to safely extricate the casualty.
The individual was then handed over to ambulance crews for further treatment.
