A man is due to appear in court today charged in connection with an incident on the A19 near Osmotherley earlier this week, during which two police officers were assaulted.

The 31-year-old from Cardiff has been charged with two counts of assault causing actual bodily harm, dangerous driving, and driving while disqualified and without a licence.

He is due to appear at York Magistrates’ Court.

The charges follow an extensive search operation launched on Monday afternoon after a black Ford Kuga, which had failed to stop for police, was found abandoned near the Tontine.

Officers, supported by police dogs, a drone and the NPAS helicopter, searched the surrounding area and confirmed that all three suspects linked to the vehicle had now been arrested.

Two men were detained on Monday evening in Stokesley and have since been released on conditional bail.

A third man was arrested on Tuesday evening with assistance from South Wales Police and remains in custody.

All three men are aged in their early 30s and from the Cardiff area.
