Two of the UK’s largest open studios events will take place across more than 3,000 square miles of North Yorkshire in 2026, offering the public the chance to explore the work of hundreds of artists in the spaces where it is created.

Organised by North Yorkshire Open Studios (NYOS), the popular events will take place over two summer weekends — Saturday, June 6 to Sunday, June 7 and Saturday, June 13 to Sunday, June 14 — followed by a winter weekend on Saturday, November 7 to Sunday, November 8.

During each event, artists from across the county will open their studios to visitors, showcasing a wide range of styles, subjects and media. Locations will span from the remote hills of the Upper Dales to the suburban streets of Harrogate, and from the Vale of York to the North York Moors and coastline.

In addition to the open studios weekends, three curated exhibitions will take place in partnership with local galleries throughout the year, helping to further raise the profile of artistic talent in the region.

Garth Bayley, Project Manager at North Yorkshire Open Studios, said:
“NYOS is dedicated to showcasing the exceptional artistic richness of our region. Our talented members are all chosen by an independent panel of curators, and our programme for 2026 offers an unmissable chance to celebrate and acquire art made right here.”

A full programme of exhibitions has been confirmed for 2026:

  • NYOS Spring Showcase at Inspired by… Gallery in Danby, running from Saturday, February 14 to Sunday, May 10, 2026

  • ‘From the Earth’ — a selected NYOS artists exhibition at Craven Arts House in Skipton, from Thursday, March 26 to Sunday, April 26, 2026

  • NYOS Summer Open Studios over two weekends: Saturday, June 6 to Sunday, June 7 and Saturday, June 13 to Sunday, June 14

  • A selling exhibition at Ampleforth Abbey from Saturday, July 11 to Sunday, July 19, 2026

  • NYOS Winter Open Studios on Saturday, November 7 to Sunday, November 8, 2026

The open studios weekends are expected to attract thousands of visitors and provide a significant boost to local artists and communities, offering a unique opportunity to meet creatives, see how they work and purchase original artwork directly from the makers themselves.
