Wensleydale Railway will once again be running its popular Mince Pie Specials between Christmas and New Year, offering families the chance to enjoy a festive heritage journey through the Dales.
The visiting Black Five steam locomotive No. 45407 The Lancashire Fusilier will operate two days of steam-hauled services between Leeming Bar and Leyburn on Sunday, December 28 to Monday, December 29. A heritage diesel service, hauled by the railway’s Class 47 locomotive (47714), will run on Tuesday, December 30.
Passengers can blow away the post-Christmas cobwebs as they travel between Leeming Bar, Bedale and Leyburn, with a complimentary mince pie and hot drink served on board. Three trips will run each day, and passengers may start their journey at Leeming Bar, Bedale or Leyburn, with a request stop available at Finghall.

Leeming Bar departures: 10:00, 12:20, 14:40
Bedale departures: 10:10, 12:30, 14:50
Leyburn departures: 11:20, 13:40, 16:00
The Leyburn station tearoom and shop will be open, serving hot and cold refreshments. There will be no café facilities at Leeming Bar, as the station remains set up for The Polar Express experience.
Parking
There is no parking at Leeming Bar Station or on the road outside. Limited spaces are available at the O’Briens Fine Foods factory (formerly Vale of Mowbray), accessed via:

Passengers are also encouraged to use Bedale Station (DL8 1AW), where ample town parking is available.
Tickets and prices
Return tickets cost £25 for adults and £5 for children aged 3–15. Children under 16 must travel with a paying adult. All tickets are day rover passes, allowing unlimited travel on any service throughout the day.
A complimentary individually wrapped mince pie and hot drink (tea, coffee or hot chocolate) is included for all passengers. Gluten-free options and flapjacks are available, and children can choose a Fruit Shoot or water.
