A Leeming Bar pet food supplier is celebrating after being named Pet Food Brand of the Year – Yorkshire for the third year in a row at the Yorkshire Prestige Awards.
Yorkshire’s Finest Pet Food, founded by well-known dog exhibitor and international show judge Dave Chapman, has earned a string of accolades in recent years. The business has previously won Best Premium Dog Food 2024 (Northern England), Best Premium Pet Food 2023 (Northern UK) and Top Grain-Free Dog Food 2022 (North East UK).
Dave, who has been showing dogs professionally since 1999, supplies feed to top breeders and exhibitors and is a respected judge on the international circuit.
He said the business was born from a need to help his own Shar Pei, Marley, who suffered from digestive issues at a time when grain-free options were far less common.
“He was sponsored by a well-known brand who kept changing the recipe,” said Dave.
“The combination of Marley’s issues and the lack of consistency drove me to create my own high-quality product at a reasonable price.
I found a solution for him, and it just made sense to share that with others.”
Since launching in 2012, the company has expanded its range to include products tailored to different ages, dietary needs and fitness levels, as well as high-quality treats, toys and accessories. Its feeds have supported some of the top dogs on the UK show circuit, including Crufts champions.
Dave, who owns 12 dogs, has judged championship shows in countries including Russia, Germany, France, Finland, Norway and Australia, and has bred 21 champions worldwide. His daughter Megan’s dog, Connor, is currently the top German Spitz Mittel in the UK.
Reflecting on the latest award, Dave said: “It feels like a feather in my cap. It shows that what we’re doing is not only delivering but also being recognised, and I’m incredibly proud of that.”
