Police have arrested a man following a robbery at the Busby Stoop garage near Thirsk on Wednesday evening (12 November).
Officers were called at around 8pm after a member of staff was threatened with a knife during the incident. The suspect then left the garage and made off in his car.
Following extensive enquiries, the vehicle was traced and stopped just over an hour later by officers from Greater Manchester Police on the M62 westbound near Rochdale, at Junction 20.
A local man, aged in his 40s, was arrested on suspicion of robbery and possession of a knife in a public place.
He remains in custody for questioning.
North Yorkshire Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
