Local drama group The Allerton Players is set to bring a brand-new comedy to the stage in Northallerton later this month — and audiences will be the first to see it performed anywhere in the world.

The play, Last Christmas, has been specially written for the group by local author Deborah Hugill and will run for three nights at The Forum, Northallerton, from 20 to 22 November.

Set in the mysterious Fortune Cottage, the story follows four ghosts who return each Christmas to haunt the house where they all died during the festive season. One of them, Carol Booth, has always believed she was murdered — but as new guests arrive for the holidays, the spirits finally have the chance to uncover the truth about what really happened on that fateful night in 1984.

Directed by Christine Trenholm, who won acclaim for her award-winning portrayal of Miss Marple in The Mirror Crack’d last year, the production promises “twists, revelations and plenty of laughs.”

Christine said: “This brand-new comedy whodunnit is packed with surprises and ghostly fun. We can’t wait to share it with audiences for the very first time.”

Tickets are available now from www.forumnorthallerton.org.uk or by calling the box office on 01609 776230.
