New tenants take the reins at the Exelby Green Dragon

Exelby Green Dragon.

There was a lively atmosphere at the Exelby Green Dragon last week as locals turned out in force to welcome the pub’s new tenants, Becky and Sam.

The community-owned pub near Bedale held what was meant to be a soft opening — but it quickly became a full celebration, with villagers, regulars, and members of the committee who helped save the pub all coming together to show their support.

Visitors enjoyed an excellent selection of local real ales, including Wensleydale Brewery’s Semer Water and Change Giver, Rudgate Ruby Mild, Black Sheep Best, and Roosters Analysis Paralysis. More guest ales are expected to appear on the bar in the coming weeks.

Although the kitchen isn’t open just yet, Sam is preparing to bring his culinary skills to the pub’s restaurant very soon.

The Exelby Green Dragon was saved by the local community several years ago and has since become a much-valued hub for residents and visitors alike.
