Man dies in A168 crash near Dishforth Airfield

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man died in a collision on the A168 near Dishforth Airfield this morning.

The crash happened at around 7.15am today (Friday, September 19) and involved a red Fiat 500 car, a John Deere tractor and a white HGV milk tanker.

The Fiat and tractor were travelling south towards Boroughbridge, while the HGV was heading north towards Thirsk.

Sadly, the driver of the Fiat – a 70-year-old man from Malton – was pronounced dead at the scene. His family have been informed.

The HGV driver, a 45-year-old man from Stockton, suffered minor injuries, while the 57-year-old tractor driver was uninjured.

The road remains closed to allow for collision investigation and recovery work, with police hoping to reopen it by 6pm this evening.
