Excitement builds for return of The Polar Express Train Ride at Wensleydale Railway

The Polar Express™ Train Ride at the Wensleydale Railway.

Families are snapping up tickets for The Polar Express™ Train Ride at the Wensleydale Railway – with many of the most popular dates already close to selling out.

Now in its sixth year at the heritage railway, the one-hour journey brings the classic story to life with dancing chefs, steaming hot chocolate, cookies, festive music and a visit from Santa himself.

This year’s production promises to be the most magical yet, with new creative input from West End director Pip Minnithorpe, whose credits include Mamma Mia!, Wicked, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child and many more.

Organisers say enhanced lighting and music will also add to the theatrical experience, while staying true to the Warner Bros. film and original book.

Pip said: “Inspired by the characters and events of the original book and movie, we tell the story using live theatre – song, dance, music, drama, comedy, illusion, lighting, special effects – and piping hot chocolate of course!

“The audience are immersed into the experience just like the children in the film, taken on a physical journey in search of Santa, but also an emotional journey to rediscover the spirit of Christmas. Just don’t forget your golden ticket!”

Organisers say tickets are already selling fast for the magical journey, which runs from early November until December 23, 2025.
