Wensleydale Railway will take part in this year’s Heritage Open Days festival with a free exhibition on railway architecture.

On Saturday, 20 September, Leeming Bar Station and the Leeming Bar Community Hub will host Building our Railway: The Architecture of Leeming Bar and Beyond.

The exhibition will explore the design and history of the railway and surrounding village through photographs, models, archive material, talks and tours.

Heritage Open Days is England’s largest community-led festival of history and culture. Every September it offers people the chance to discover hidden places, explore traditions and share local stories – all free of charge.

Connor Lagus, community engagement officer at Wensleydale Railway, said: “We’re really excited to once again welcome visitors to a one-day-only pop-up exhibition for Heritage Open Day.

“This year, we are delighted to be working with the Leeming Bar Community Hub, who have kindly allowed us to host part of this exhibition in their space opposite the station.

“We’ll be dipping into our archives to bring out interesting documents, photos and objects linking to this year’s national theme of architecture.”

The exhibition will run from 10am to 3pm and is free to enter. Normal fares apply for visitors wishing to travel on the trains.

More information is available on the Heritage Open Days event page.
