Two young dog lovers from Thirsk had a ‘pawsome’ start to their summer holidays by taking part in the Young Kennel Club (YKC) Summer Camp.
Charlie and Georgie Donnor-Broom, aged 12 and 10, joined more than 200 other youngsters at the week-long event at Rutland Showground in Oakham.
The pair, along with their Labradors Hedges and Yoyo, took part in an action-packed programme of training, competitions and fun activities.
These included agility, hoopers, handling, obedience and even heelwork to music.
Members also had the chance to qualify for Crufts 2026.
Charlie said: “I really enjoyed YKC Camp, I learnt a lot and had lots of fun. My highlight was taking part in obedience, and I learnt lots of new skills and made lots of new friends.”
Georgie added: “I found Camp really enjoyable, I think that it really helped develop my bond with my dog even more, and I feel that since camp my dog and I have really developed our skills.”
Helen Kerfoot, spokesperson for the Young Kennel Club, said: “We were delighted to welcome our members to YKC Summer Camp once again, including Charlie, Georgie, Yoyo and Hedges, who had an enjoyable and varied week of activities.
“As well as being a lot of fun, it also helps to equip youngsters with the knowledge and awareness of what it means to be a responsible dog owner.
“The skills, knowledge and friendships that are formed here can last a lifetime.”
