Croft Circuit will once again host the Darlington and District Motor Club’s (DDMC) annual Battle of Britain race meeting next weekend (August 23-24).
The two-day event is a highlight of the North Yorkshire track’s calendar and will feature a packed programme of racing, including sports cars, single-seaters and sidecars.
Among the headline events are rounds 11 and 12 of the Northern Saloon and Sports Car Championship (NSSCC), which regularly attracts bumper entries. Cars such as Lotus Elises, Subaru Impreza WRX STIs, Honda Civic Type Rs and Mazda MX5s will go head-to-head, with more than 40 competitors expected on the grid. Championship leader Stevie McNabb, in his Honda Civic, will be aiming to extend his advantage over rivals Stephen Reece and Alex Prentice.
Saturday will also see round six of the Focus Cup Championship, while a strong Scottish contingent will travel south to take part in the Legends Car Championship, the Classic Sports and Saloon Championship, Modsports and the Mini Cooper Cup, which all run on Sunday.
Sidecar fans are in for a treat as the FRSA F2 British Sidecar and FSRA Pre-Injection British Sidecar Championships return to Croft for the penultimate rounds of their season. Meanwhile, the British Clubman’s Register Championship – celebrating its 60th anniversary – will run three races across the weekend.
The event will conclude with the Battle of Britain Trophy Race at 5.30pm on Sunday, which has been a tradition at Croft since the 1960s and is open only to drivers who have already competed over the weekend.
On-track action begins at 9.30am on Saturday with practice and qualifying before racing starts at 11.40am. Sunday’s racing begins at 9.50am.
Tickets are priced at £17 for adults. Children aged 15 and under go free, with free car parking and paddock access also included. Tickets can be booked online at www.croftcircuit.co.uk or by calling 01325 721815.
