Firefighters from Cleveland Fire and Rescue Service were called to reports of smoke seen in the distance near Great Ayton at 7.03pm yesterday.
On arrival, crews found a 20m by 20m fire in gorse bushes which had almost burnt itself out.
Firefighters used beaters to extinguish the remaining flames.
