Three men have been arrested after reportedly arriving in Northallerton to steal bikes.
Police say they received a report of three males getting off the train at Northallerton on Tuesday afternoon with the intention of stealing bikes.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “One male was quickly located by an unmarked police unit who carried out a search of this male who was found to be in possession of an angle grinder and was also wanted by a neighbouring police force — he was quickly arrested.
“The other 2 males were immediately spotted by North Yorkshire Council CCTV and local shop watch LoveNorthallerton.
“One of these males made off from officers, but ran out of steam trying to make it back to the train station and was also arrested.
“The final male was arrested on South Parade .
“We would also like to thank several members of the public who assisted in locating the males.
“The message is clear — do not come to North Yorkshire to commit crime.”
