A community minibus association has received a cash boost to help spread the word and publicise its use and the services it provides.

With the help of a grant of £4,800 from Hambleton District Council’s Making a Difference Fund, Thirsk District Community Minibus Association has used the cash to update IT equipment and software and to purchase marketing banners and signage.

The association provides affordable community transport to Thirsk, Sowerby and the surrounding villages, particularly to those in need including the young, disabled and older residents.

It can be booked to help access shopping, social activities, healthcare appointments or by sports clubs for transport to matches.

“But we want to help even more,” said Alexandra Little, office manager.

“We want to help the isolated members of our communities who are in the outlying villages and are at higher risk of social isolation.

“The grant will not only help us share our services more efficiently but also enable more people access our provision electronically.”
