THE last garden waste collection of the year takes place in the next two weeks.

Hambleton residents are reminded that there is only one more garden waste collection before Christmas. The last collections take place either week commencing November 19 or 26 before being suspended over the winter months.  They begin again on February 18 or 25.

However, this year there will be a special green bin collection for Christmas trees for subscribing residents only.

Trees must be chopped up and placed in the green bin ready for collection on week commencing January 7 or 14.     Trees left at the side of bins or protruding from bins will not be collected.

Residents who have not signed up to green bin collections can take their trees to the Household Waste Recycling Centres at Sandholme Lane in Sowerby; Yafforth Road in Northallerton; Leeming Bar Industrial Estate; Stokesley Industrial Estate and Tholthorpe for composting.  The sites are open from 8.30am until 4pm.    They are closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and January 1, along with every Wednesday.

Information on refuse and recycling collections for winter and Christmas have now been delivered to all Hambleton households.

The tags have been attached to black wheeled bins, listing collection dates for Christmas and New year as well as information on Bank Holiday collections in 2019 and new for this year tips on Christmas recycling.

Collection dates can also be checked on the councils’ website at;  hambleton.gov.uk
