Guides produced with advice on staying safe in everyday life

Guides have been produced for vulnerable adults in Hambleton, containing valuable advice on keeping safe.

The three, easy read guides have been produced with tips and advice on drinking alcohol, taking medicine and illegal drugs.

The Keep Safe guides have been produced by the Safer Hambleton Hub in partnership with Mencap and members of the Community Safety Task Group of the North Yorkshire Learning Disabilities Partnership.

They have also been designed by vulnerable people for vulnerable people and aim to provide them with information that will keep them safe in everyday life.

“These are three very important topics that we cannot shy away from,” said Sue Lear from Mencap.

“They can affect everyone but our vulnerable adults are even more at risk and so the leaflets have been written from the self-advocates’ perspective – they found out the issues, did the research and wrote down the advice that is needed.”

The leaflets are available from local Mencap centres, Hambleton District Council offices in Northallerton, Stokesley and Easingwold, leisure centres in Northallerton, Bedale, Stokesley, Thirsk and Sowerby and all libraries across Hambleton.
